The Big Bad Wolf goes Into the Woods

It looks like the article I read that Johnny Depp was in talks to play the Baker in Into the Woods was wrong. He's in talks to play the Big Bad Wolf. Not Cinderella's Prince and the Big Bad Wolf (the same actor usually plays both roles in the stage production), just the Big Bad Wolf. That definitely makes more sense than him playing the Baker.

Of course, no one can play the BBW like Monroe. *wink*

  1. Ok, I can get behind this piece of casting a bit more than Depp playing the Baker.

I sure do love Monroe's take... and also Scott Cohen on The 10th Kingdom :D

    1. I remember enjoying Scott Cohen's performance in The 10th Kingdom. I'm going to have to watch it again.

  2. I read that Rob Marshall is going to direct it, which is good news. I don't think I'd like it as much if Tim Burton did it. I'd be too distracted by his quirky changes. And Meryl Streep is rumored to be cast as the witch with Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Christine Baranski as the wicked stepmother, and Patrick Wilson as Prince Charming. (that last bit I got from http://www.movie-moron.com/?p=26617)

    1. I am also glad that Rob Marshall is directing it. I think he's a good movie musical director. It's interesting that Anna Kendrick is being considered for Cinderella since she's also in The Last Five Years. I'm sure it's because she was in Pitch Perfect that's she's being considered for these roles in musicals. I love Christine Baranski. Too bad the stepmother's role isn't very big. I love Patrick Wilson's voice. He'd make a good prince (although he's a bit older than Anna). Meryl Streep as the witch - well, I'm sure she'll do a good job, but it would be nice to see someone younger (look at me, you'd think I had something against older people). :)
